Our Final Step: The Way of Least Action

Welcome to my final post of this series: Five Simple Techniques to Change Your Mindset and Reignite Your Life! I hope you have enjoyed it. If you missed any of the previous posts, click here for the whole series.

For this last technique, let’s explore what I call the Way of Least Action.

Most of us do exactly the opposite. We strive to be ever more active, but the combination of stress, struggle, and needless suffering is the result of a mindset that sees no other way to live.

We get hooked into reacting versus stopping to respond to situations. In any one day, we have over 60,000 thoughts, 95% of which are repeat thoughts. In other words, we spend a lot of time ruminating on the same thought over and over again.

Practice noticing.

When you’re in the shower tomorrow, just notice where your thoughts take you. Watch how in the beginning of your shower you might have been wondering how you were going to have the time to get the store today with your busy schedule. By the end, you’re thinking about the great book you’re currently reading. You may even go back to making a mental grocery list before the shower is over.

One of the biggest reasons you may feel stuck in the same pattern is because you actually are stuck in the same pattern.

One of the best ways to break this pattern is to find stillness each day. Set aside time to be still and to reconnect. I like to say to my meditation students that stillness is not so much a time out, as it is a time in.

“Stillness is not so much a time out, as it is a time in.”

In meditation, when you encounter the silent depth of your mind, some problems dissolve automatically, while others present new solutions. Your higher self, who you grow closer to with each meditation, is real and wants only the best for you.

A life aligned with the laws of nature is not only easier, it brings love, creativity, and bliss, which is our birthright.

You will be amazed at how your mindset begins to shift when you allow time every day for your mind to be still.

Most of us feel the drive and the need to keep doing, doing, doing, never feeling comfortable when we are still. In fact, many of us feel guilty when we sit still, as if we’re not doing enough, we’re supposed to be doing more, or it’s just not okay to stop moving and doing in the middle of the day.

Let me be the first to give you permission to STOP moving today.

What if happiness just isn’t “out there”? What if happiness already resides inside you right this very moment at your ground state of being?

One misperception of reality is that in order for us to be happy, we need to be striving, grasping, or clinging to happiness.

If you were to investigate some of the world’s most ancient wisdom traditions. You might find some astonishing propositions, including this one:

Mistakenly we identify our happiness with the possessions and positions we have in life. It doesn’t help that our society validates this limiting belief in every advertisement for a beautiful car, woman or other way of being that is somehow deemed the best. We’ve essentially bought into the ideal that if we have a particular title behind our name, we’ll have “arrived.”

Life was never meant to be a struggle.

What if happiness just isn’t “out there?” Of if happiness already resides inside you right this very moment at your ground state of being?

What if your happiness, joy, peace and fulfillment is just covered over by a pile of limiting beliefs, assumptions and an old mindset you have yet to shake loose from?

If you can access pure joy, happiness, peace and tranquility within yourself in this moment, what then?

You can!

Return to Your Truest Self

Part of what I do as an integrative life coach and meditation teacher is to help you return to yourself. Your truest self.

If you are interested in exploring life coaching, I offer a complimentary coaching session (via Zoom) to help you hone in on where you are now and what you’d like to create in your life over the next three to six months.

But let me first explain what integrative life coaching looks like.

  1. It begins by first identifying what has you feeling stuck and stymied, unhappy, stressed and frustrated. What has you feeling as though you are not living up to your true potential? What has you feeling a pull to living your life in a more fullling way?

  2. Once you can get clear on those pieces, we will partner in setting about to uncover what it is that will make you happy, what goals, dreams and visions you have for yourself. What paths have you always wanted to explore? Where are your interests?

  3. In that process, inevitably, we’ll uncover some of the limiting beliefs and roadblocks that are standing in the way of you being able to fulll on those dreams and desires.

  4. From there, we’ll do some digging and uncovering to help you discover what’s been limiting you and create an Action Plan to move forward.

  5. All throughout our partnership, I will hold you accountable for taking steps to fulll on those goals you set for yourself.

  6. You’ll have the option of including a meditation practice in the coaching process. If so, I will guide you in the ancient practice of meditation and mindfulness, which will awaken your intuition and give you the clarity you have been looking for to move from a life of striving and surviving to a life of thriving.

The process might not always be easy. As I tell my clients, it didn’t take you a few weeks to get to the place you are today, it’s not going to take merely a few weeks to get you back on your feet feeling powerful, strong, peaceful and directed.
You can’t Google® peace. There’s no instant answer.

It takes committed introspection, dedication and support.

I can promise you, though, that the time it takes to uncover, discover and discard the limiting beliefs that have been holding you back from living the life you envision will be time well spent.

If you are committed and willing to put in the work, it can also be life altering.

Now is the time to get unstuck! Are you ready?

Say Yes!
